Dessert for Breakfast
Why do we seem to only eat dessert after dinner? I've been told it was a way to bribe kids into eating their broccoli or other less desirable veggies which in turn ended with the meal including something sweet ~ a dessert. Okay, does that mean if we have broccoli or other veggies with our breakfast or lunch, that we could have dessert then too? Because experts agree that if we eat a balanced meal, we could benefit from a dessert ~ the meal plus dessert could help to stabilize our blood sugars.
Better yet why not have dessert for breakfast? Some may argue that desserts like pie are a dinner dessert ~ really? I mean the one difference between pie and pastry is the consistency of the crust ~ pie is made with lard or vegetable oil; it has a firm flaky crust while pastries tend to be made with butter and have a light flaky crust. Personally, I don't care if it's a firm or light flaky crust ~ just make it a bit sweet and good. And if you really don't want something too sweet, try applesauce with cinnamon ~ it' not just for kids.
Don't think that desserts are all bad, they're not. For one eating desserts can teach us to share and care by simply asking for two spoons 🥄🥄 And if that's not reason enough to eat dessert ~ a sweet snack can increase our production of the so-called hormone of happiness 😀
It's these thoughts that I contemplate as I eat my breakfast dessert cupcake with a spoon in its faux cupcake holder bowl 🧁
