Just how clean are your dishes?

Our dishwasher broke three'ish years ago. At the time we were traveling around in our 25' RV, Lilly Pad, seeing the sites, and we felt no need to rush out and replace it ~ at that time. As we hand washed our dishes, I began to wonder... Just how clean were our dishes?

I remember when I was a kid, we didn't have a dishwasher, or should I say ~ us kids were the dish washers. And it wasn't like we wanted to do the dishes; it was a chore ~ we HAD to do them. So, think about it, you're forcing your kids to wash the dishes that they don't want to wash... Just how clean are our dishes?

Back when I was a kid dishwasher, I wasn't the greatest at math, so I didn't really get the whole soap, water to dishes ratio stuff. I just put a glob of soap in the water, watched the bubbles form, add a glob to my dishcloth and begin the daunting process of washing the dished. As I stood at the sink half-heartedly washing the dishes, my dad would yell… 'put some elbow grease into it, Toad.'  That was how we got stuck on stuff off because we didn't have any of those handy-dandy sponge-scrubby all in one 😊 And what about the water, did I get it hot enough? Wash hot ~ rinse cold. Did I get all the soap suds off? Mom would yell… ‘be sure to get all the soap suds off the dishes if you don’t it will give us diarrhea ~ really? 😮 But let's face it, there is no water as hot as the dishwasher water.

In my so-called adult state, as I'm still hand washing my dishes, I find that even with my handy-dandy sponge-scrubby all in one I still need to ~ 'put some elbow grease into it, Toad.' Which brings me back to my original question... Just how clean are our dishes?
