True Love
June 10th, 2020 was a very special day… it would have been my parents 70th wedding anniversary and they love each other unconditionally until the end of time.
Growing up we don’t think of our parents as being in love or lovers. Yew, Yuck… they’re our parents. That’s how I felt until I read some love letters my daddy wrote to mom, it made me wonder… What are my earliest memories of my parent’s showing affection towards each other? Hum??? I think they always showed affection, so I never really thought about it because it was unspoken, it just happened. As they grew older together, their affection for each other grew as well, a true love story. So, I decided to incorporate some of the unspoken things my parents taught me ~ Billie & Ken’s affectionology into my life and marriage.
· Touch frequently and if for no other reason than to feel the love. Touch the person next to you on the arm. Think of how their touch lingers long after they remove their hand. Imagine that touch filled with love and affection. Yeah… that what my folks were talkin’ about.
· You’re never too busy to share a kiss or hug. Especially after a busy day, bad day or a day at work. What better way to start your evening.
· If you feel like sharing a hug or kiss with your love ~ do it, don’t let that moment pass. That way you’ll have no regrets later.
· Share a kiss before you go to bed each night. What better way to end your day.
· You’re never too old to spoon, which is just what my parents did for 68 years.
· Remember why you fell in love. Think about it… Stew made me laugh and still does.
Until I spent almost every other day with my parents over the past couple of years of their lives, I never truly realized how deeply they loved each other ~ from day one. It was like love at first sight.
Mom signed the back of a picture she gave to daddy, when she was 18 years old ~ ‘Yours till the end of time’ & daddy signed his love letter ~ ‘Love you with all my heart’. There are no truer words to be said. Not even when they were both in wheelchairs, wheels tangled together could you keep these two love birds from sharing a kiss.
Peace & Love
