Bucket List

Each year I feel as if I set myself up for failure by making resolutions: a firm decision to do or not to do something. Firm being the operative word ~ considering less than 8% of folks keep their resolutions 😊 As opposed to the 66% of folks who fulfill something on their bucket list: a number of experiences or achievements one hopes to have during their lifetime 😊 It’s probably because a resolution feels more like a ‘to do’ list ~ whereas a bucket list sounds like a ‘wish list’.

There is no right or wrong when creating a bucket list or a yearly bucket list (things you hope to experience with the year). Items on your bucket list don’t have to be big or expensive, they can be as simple as ~ Learning how to say - Happy Birthday in Spanish so I could wish mt friend ~ Feliz Cumpleanos Mi Amiga in her native language or make a fruit cake, which I haven’t done yet. To bigger experiences ~ ride the sand dunes in Oreagan to visit state and national parks in my home state of Florida. In fact. One of the items on my bucket list was to start a website ~ The Quirkee Toad 😊

On my husband’s bucket list was his wish to re-trace his childhood vacations from Florida to Washinton State and everything in between. We loaded up in our little RV ~ Lily Pad and headed out on his bucket list journey and what a journey it was. We spent 66 days on the road, traveled about 10,000 miles, crossing 17 states and we made our home in 36 different parks along the way 😊 For the majority of our trip, we had little to no cell service unless we were on a hill/mountain or in a designated cell area 😊 Each state seemed to have its own niche, which made for quite the learning curve. The weather was crazy ~ we literally experienced all 4 seasons in one day, every day 😊 By the end of our trip, we realized that all who wander are not lost ~ like us they’re just exploring!

So, I say out with the resolutions, to-do lists and in with the bucket lists😊
